Conidiobolus coronatus

A very rapid-growing fungus that produces a fuzzy colony against a translucent background within three days, when incubated at 25oC (77oF). Older colonies appear pale brownish and powery. It has worldwide distribution and has been isolated from soil, plants, plant debris, sewage, insects, and mites. It is the causal agent of rhino entomophthoromycosis in man.
